The color picker uses the Eye Dropper API built into modern browsers. When you click the pick button, your cursor becomes a crosshair and you can click any visible pixel on screen to extract its color value instantly.

Which browsers support the color picker?

The Eye Dropper API is supported in Chromium-based browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera (version 95+). Firefox and Safari do not currently support this API.

What color formats are supported?

The color picker supports HEX, RGB, RGBA, HSL, HSLA, HSV, and CMYK formats. You can choose your preferred output format and enable auto-copy to instantly copy picked colors in that format.

Can I save picked colors for later?

Yes, the color picker automatically saves your recent colors in a history panel. Up to 8 colors are stored locally in your browser, and they are also added to the global color stack for use across other tools on the site.

Is there a keyboard shortcut for picking colors?

Yes, you can press Alt + Q to activate the color picker without clicking the button. This shortcut works as long as you are not focused on a text input field.
